10-Day Ladakh Road Itinerary
A well-paced Himalayan road trip that moves from the green valleys of Himachal into Ladakh’s high-altitude deserts. The route balances driving, acclimatisation, scenic stops, and cultural exploration while keeping Jispa as a natural pause point on the journey.
Day 1 – Manali Arrival
Arrive in Manali and ease into the mountains. Explore Hadimba Temple, Old Manali cafés, and nearby viewpoints before resting ahead of the high-altitude drive.
Day 2 – Manali to Jispa
Cross the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul Valley with stops at Sissu, Tandi, and Keylong. Overnight in Jispa helps with gradual acclimatisation before entering higher terrain.
Day 3 – Jispa to Leh
A dramatic high-mountain drive across multiple passes, alpine lakes, and vast plateau landscapes before reaching Leh by evening.
Day 4 – Leh Local Exploration
Visit monasteries, Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and local markets while allowing the body to adapt to altitude.
Day 5 – Nubra Valley Excursion
Cross Khardung La into Nubra Valley. Explore Diskit Monastery, sand dunes at Hunder, and nearby villages.
Day 6 – Pangong Lake Journey
Drive along remote river routes toward Pangong Lake. Enjoy the changing landscape and lakeside sunset views.
Day 7 – Toward Hanle
Travel deeper into eastern Ladakh through quiet high-altitude terrain, monasteries, and observatory regions known for clear night skies.
Day 8 – Umling La High-Altitude Drive
Visit one of the world’s highest motorable roads before returning to Hanle for rest and recovery.
Day 9 – Tso Moriri Region
Continue across remote plateau landscapes to Tso Moriri Lake and Karzok village for a calm evening by the water.
Day 10 – Return via Jispa to Manali
Begin the return drive across the high passes, stopping again at Jispa for food or rest before descending toward Manali.
